July 24

What is July 24th? It's Pioneer Day!! You wouldn't know that it was Pioneer day if you live in a town like Sierra Vista. They don't do anything here to celebrate it!!! My Sister, Amanda lives in a fun town called Thatcher that celebrates it every year! We have decided to make it a tradition to go every July 24th. They have lots of activities for all ages, a parade, and fireworks. We had an eventful weekend like this:
I missed pictures of the first half (darn it). Friday night we got there just in time for a late YUMMY dinner and lots of socializing. Saturday morning we got up and had a YUMMY breakfast. Then Justin, Garet, and Spencer all went on a Mountain Bike ride. Spencer said it was beautiful in the Graham Mountains and perfect weather. Us girls stayed stayed home and made pretty little hair bows (for the little girls) and the kids ran wild. We left around lunch and went up to the Mountains to meet with up with the Boys at Angle Orchard. We got lots of Apples, we were hoping for peaches but they weren't ready. After we enjoyed the 24th activities:
Here we are waiting for the parade to start!
The parade was so fun! It's all church related. There are 3 stakes in that area, and each ward in each stake was responsible for a float. Here is one float that I was impressed by. That is what the Gila Valley Temple is going to look like. Is that awesome or what? all the floats were about the temple. It was really cool.

Us at dinner between the Parade and Fireworks. I LOVE the mexician food in Thatcher!!

Here we are at the fireworks! The show was short and simple but fun. We enjoyed getting to see friends we hadn't seen in a long time and being with lots of cousins and family. Thanks for the invite Garet and Amanda!! We had a great time and will be there next year!!!

Blue or PINK???

So... we went in for our little visit to the Dr this week and I'm sitting in the waiting room waiting for my dear husband and to be called back. The lady next to me says..."You must me having a little BOY." I responded, "Nope, its a little GIRL." She was amazed and said, "Wow I could have totally bet your having a BOY. You are carrying totally like a BOY." I just laughed. I have gotten that A LOT recently but have let it go in and out.... (because everyone does carry different) BUT... the story doesn't end here.... Spence comes we get called back, they do all the vital signs. Then the nurse says, "HE looks good, nice and healthy." I was quick to respond kindly, "It's a GIRL." She looked as if she didn't quit hear me correctly. "You're having a GIRL??? Are you sure? When did you get your ultra sound done? Did they get clear pictures?" Spencer actually chimed in..."We found out in April. They said that she was clearly a GIRL." The nurse went on to say, "Huh... I would have totally thought it was a BOY because of all the baby's vital signs. Plus you do carry like your having a BOY but everyone does carry a little different. Interesting..." I asked her should we have another ultra sound???" Spencer does not remember her responding but I thought she said that she would get a second one just in case. So this week with a little hesitation we painted the nursery and started decorating it. PLEASE let it be a GIRL!!! Not that if it was a BOY I would be mad at all. I just have put a lot of work into a GIRL. I'm not sure what we are going to do. Will I be able to just wait until SHE is born or do we check again?? Only 6 more weeks!!!

4th of July

So the 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays! That may sound funny to some of you but I have always enjoyed the fun festive activities and fireworks. When Spencer and I were engaged that was Spencer's first 4th of July in Sierra Vista. After that he said we are coming every year, I wasn't going to argue! Then we ended up moving back to Sierra Vista and decided to invite the Forsberg Family to come every year for a family reunion. This was the 2nd year and sooo fun!! Everyone (24 people) came Thursday night and stayed until Sunday. This was our weekend:
Friday : Boys went golfing and the girls took the kids to the "cove." (indoor water park)
Saturday: Early morning 4th July Breakfast and went swimming and played volleyball. That afternoon we celebrated all the July Birthdays (Caitlyn, Steph, Katie, and Spencer) plus Amy's. We decorated sugar cookies, ate lots and then that night we had a party at the park. We played baseball, football, talked, ate pizza, and watched the fireworks. The weather was awesome which is ALWAYS a plus! It was tons of fun having the Forsberg's here!! We look forward to next year!

If I have time I am going to post a few more posts. I have the 4th of July to tell you about, Wicked, my niece and nephews visiting us, baby shower, and soon girls camp!!

LAST DAY....

Friday night we arrived in St. Louis where we attended a Cardinals game Saturday. It was a lot of fun but very hot!! The picture above is Busch Stadium where we watched the Cardinals beat the Twins. That's Spencer and I inside the Stadium. It may not look like we had good seats but we did!! We were not super close to the field but still a great view. The best part was we were in the shade the entire time except the 1st inning.
Diana, Frank (my in-laws) Me and Spencer at the game. I think we all had a good time!

After the game we went of to the arch. We didn't go up in it because it was a 5 hour wait but we walked around and got free YUMMY yogurt bars. The arch was amazing!! I had driven by it when we were in St. Louis for Cross Country but it was awesome to see it really close up!
Spencer, Myself, Diana, Frank at the arch
Different views of the arch. It is huge!! You know what I'm talking about if you have been there before!
After visiting the arch we headed over to the St. Louis Temple. It was very pretty! It was right off the freeway. We didn't get to actually walk around the grounds or go inside because it was closed. (not sure why) We did enjoy taking picture and looking at all the big houses around the area! It was beautiful!!

That is the conclusion of our trip! If you read everyday I am so impressed. We had a wonderful time!! Thanks Frank and Diana for coming with us. It was a perfect trip to go on right before the baby. I'm not sure when we will be the chance to go again. It was nice to come home but then you have real life to face. It was a wonderful vacation!!!

Day 9

Friday morning we got up and headed out of Adam-Ondi-Amon. Our first stop was in Far West. There was a ton to see but it was still fun to go see where the Saints lived for a short period of time. In Far West We saw the temple site, where the temple will be built at some point. I also learned by reading these big plaques that this is where the Law of Tithing and Joseph received the revelation for the name of the church in Far West. I also learned that Cain killed Abel.

This the Visitors Center and Liberty Jail. The picture below is the basement inside the jail where Joseph, Hyrum, and 3 others stayed. (I can't remember all the names) It was very small and not tall enough for all taller men to stand up. It was amazing to me the positive attitudes these Men had and the faith they had.
This is the temple of the RLDS (Re-organized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day-Saints) This temple is in Independence, Missouri. The temple is open to the Public but we didn't make it inside. It definitely doesn't have the same spirit as the temples I've been inside or walked around.
This is the RLDS Conference Center/ Activity Center
It was a good experience to visit all the sites of the Church. We had a great time and I really learned a lot. Now as I read and study the Doctrine and Covenants I will have a different perspective. I have a better understanding of what the Pioneer's and Joseph Smith experienced. It makes me choke up a bit to really try to comprehend the struggles and trials they faced. Comparing them to my own trials I realized I am so blessed and they don't even compare. I am thankful for the testimonies and faith the Saints had as they faced these trials. It's awesome to learn the stories of my ancestor's that crossed the plains, it definitely strengthens my testimony. I love this Gospel and am thankful for Joseph Smith's testimony, ambitions, and love for the gospel. It you ever have the opportunity to go visit Nauvoo. Go!!! There is not a place I've ever been that has such a wonderful spirit.

Day 7,and 8

Wednesday morning we had a fun time trying to squeeze in a little more events before we left Nauvoo. This is a picture of Spencer and I in front of the Wilford Woodruff house. It was beautiful. An interesting fact is... If you look at the roof you will notice that there are a lot of chimneys. President Woodruff did not like the cold. He made sure he had a fireplace in every room.

This was our next stop in Adam-Ondi-Ahman.
This is where we stayed. Isn't it a cute house. It is actually where missionary couples live. There is a small apartment that visiting family can stay in. We were lucky to be able to stay here because my in-laws have friends that are currently serving a mission in Adam-ondi-Ahman. We had a fun time going out to dinner with one of the missionary couples and realized how small of a world it really is when I realized they are best friends with some of our best friends. (Jared and Sammy Pottle) We had a fun time with the Wrights and hope to keep in contact.
Part of the deal... being able to stay in Adam-Ondi-Ahman was Spencer and my Father-in-law got up early Thursday morning and helped do the labor work. They actually went to a newly found old cemetery and recorded TONS of names from every head board. They are making it into a book so the towns people can see if they have any relatives in this old grave yard and then do all the temple work for these people. During that time my Mother-in-Law taught me how to crochet around baby blankets and burp clothes. When the boys got home from working we went to a small Amish town and looked around for a short time before we had to head back to get ready for a dinner with all the missionary couple (12) and some investigators. After the dinner we all headed over to Kansas City for an AMAZING Tabernacle Choir Concert. It was so good!!!

I'm not sure what exactly is going on with the Man next to Spencer but... We got a good laugh at the picture. The concert was wonderful. The next morning we got up early and continued our little journey....... (2 more days)

Day 6

Tuesday morning we got up early and went straight to the temple to go through a session. It was seriously AMAZING!!! It was beautiful!!! It was really cool having my Grandparents able to meet us in the celestial room. After the session we got to look around and have my Grandparents point out details that I would have never noticed. It was such a wonderful experience! Here we are outside the entrance of the temple.
Standing in front of the Nauvoo Temple sign. (which you can't read)
This is Spencer and I standing outside the Heber C Kimball House. It was beautiful inside and out! I love the brink and white fence!
Yep, Spencer and I stood in the Mississippi River. We really wanted to swim but the bottom was really rocky and we didn't come prepared with extra shoes we could get wet. After enjoying the river we went out to dinner with Grandma and Grandpa. It was yummy, but not like Grandma's home cooked meals we were use to.
