I have had many email's, phone calls, and text messages concerning my brother Jared on his mission. He was in the earthquake but where he is currently serving it didn't get hit as hard as many other places. (Santiago: Mission Home) He was able to call home ad confirm his safety to my parents which they were very grateful for. He said that they had some damage to their apt. and more to the mission office. He said it was a big MESS. The Mission home where the Pres. lives was messed up also. The walls are cracked and the floors are all split. There was only one missionary Apt. that was pretty destroyed and it happened to be the Elder from Snowflake. No one was hurt though. Jared had to drive around at 4:00 in the morning to locate all elders and check on their safety. He said that was pretty scary because of all the after shocks. Some of the roads were out and some bridges broken. They have no water or electricity and they aren't sure how long it will take before it is fixed. This means we won't get our weekly emails!! Jared told us that the computers were thrown all over the room. I'm anxious to see pictures.
He was quite humbled and kept telling my parents to be grateful for what they have and know that in seconds our lives could be changed forever. He said they would be very busy with all the cleaning up and serving others. I'm sure he will be a big help....he likes that hard work of lifting, shoveling, etc.
I will keep you posted when we do receive pictures!
